Panel Discussion: Ways to assess minority business capacity
Panel Discussion: Ways to assess minority business capacity and
solutions for future sustainability in the global marketplace
August 24, 2009
Greetings:
The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 39th Annual Legislative
Conference (CBCF ALC) will be held September 23-26, 2009 at the
Washington Convention Center, 801 Mt. Vernon Place, NW, Washington, DC
20001.
Specifically, Congressman Chaka Fattah and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is
hosting a panel discussion on ways to assess minority business
capacity and solutions for future sustainability in the global
marketplace. This timely discussion will take place on:
Friday, September 25th from 9A-12P in Room 140A.
This year’s exchange of strategies and suggestions will include four
different panels offering four different perspectives on this pressing
topic. The panelists will range from Members of Congress, senior
corporate executives, minority business owners and representatives
providing the legal and research perspective.
Your participation and contribution is fundamental to the success of
our proposed agenda and we strongly encourage you to be a part of the
dialogue!
In 2005, GSK and the CBCF formed a partnership to identify barriers
encountered by small businesses as they pursue success in today’s
global economic environment. Such barriers tend to hinder small and
disadvantaged businesses from achieving the size, scale and capacity
needed to compete globally.
The reality is, our country’s economic future demands stronger more
dependable and sustainable minority businesses that are able to supply
and compete across borders as well as provide jobs and build wealth in
US communities.
As a result, GSK and CBCF will continue its efforts through the
Supplier Business Initiative.
We sincerely hope you are able to join us on for this important and
enlightening discussion. Additionally, if you have any questions,
please feel free to contact my Deputy Chief of Staff, Debra Anderson
at 202.225.4001 or Debra.Anderson@mail.house.gov. You may also
contact Kim Williams from GSK at 202. 715.1034 or
Kim.A.Williams@gsk.com. For more information on the conference please

Very truly yours,
Chaka Fattah
Member of Congress
